In Texas, there are two (2) ways to vote early:
✔ In Person
✔ By Mail (Absentee Ballot)
Early voting generally begins 17 days before an election and ends four (4) days before Election Day. If the 17th day falls on a weekend, early voting begins the following Monday.
Early Voting Period:
Tuesday, February 17 – Friday, February 27, 2026
Mark your calendar and plan ahead.
All registered voters in Texas may vote early at a convenient vote center.
✔ No reason required
✔ Flexible voting locations
✔ Shorter wait times
Polling locations may vary by election and will be posted as they become available on the
Bexar County Elections Department homepage
Voting early in person is simple and secure.
If you are physically unable to enter the polling location without assistance or risk to your health, curbside voting is available at all vote centers in Bexar County.
How it works:
Look for designated curbside parking spots with signage
Call the phone number listed on the sign
A poll worker will assist you at your vehicle
Curbside voting ensures accessibility for all eligible voters.
You may qualify to vote by mail in Texas if you meet one of the following requirements:
65 years of age or older on Election Day
Sick or disabled
Expected to give birth within 3 weeks of Election Day
Out of the county during Early Voting and on Election Day
Confined in jail but eligible to vote
Civilly committed under Chapter 841 of the Texas Health and Safety Code
Applications for a Ballot by Mail (ABBM) may be submitted anytime during the calendar year, but no later than 11 days before Election Day.
If you select “Annual Application”, you will receive ballots for all eligible elections that year, including any runoffs. Annual applications expire on December 31.
Your application must include one of the following ID numbers:
Texas Driver’s License
Texas Personal ID Card
Texas Election ID Certificate
Social Security Number
If voting in a primary election, you must select a political party on your application to receive the correct ballot.
Your selection only applies to that year’s primary or primary runoff election.
Mail your completed application to:
Early Voting Clerk
1103 S. Frio
Suite 100
San Antonio, TX 78207
Domestic Ballots by Mail must be received:
By 7:00 PM (CST) on Election Day, OR
By 5:00 PM (CST) the next business day if postmarked by 7:00 PM on Election Day
Do not wait until the last minute.
Due to high application volume, personal confirmation is not sent upon receipt.
You may check the status of your ballot using the official Ballot-By-Mail Status Tracker provided by the Bexar County Elections Department.
