IIT Madras adopted a data-driven model for road safety

Last month,The Road Ministry recently adopted a data-driven road safety model developed by researchers at IIT Madras, which was funded by the World Bank. This model, known as the Integrated Road Accident Database (iRAD), will be used by more than 32 states and Union Territories to enhance road safety and improve emergency response.

The team from IIT has signed agreements with several state governments to aid them in creating a roadmap towards achieving the goal of reducing road fatalities by 50% by 2030 and ultimately accomplishing the target of zero deaths caused by road traffic accidents.
